Rubin Kazan this week have declared their intentions to bring in quality players before their Champions League campaign begins and now have begun talks with Wolfsburg for midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic.
Rubin have lost two influential players from their squad to Zenit St. Petersburg in the last month and championat.ru have confirmed they see Misimovic as the perfect replacement for Sergei Semak. Rubin will not be too shy to shell out the money required to land German-born Bosnian international Misimovic, who has been linked to a host of top European clubs. The problem will be persuading the talented midfielder to switch to the RPL.
The Tatars played against Wolfsburg last term in the Champions League and were impressed with what they saw. Brazilian striker Grafite was also a target for the Russian club but they have already signed Obafemi Martins from the same club.
In the meantime talks for Spanish striker Daniel Guiza from Fenerbahce are still ongoing as coach Kurban Berdyev continues to search for an out and out striker to replace Aleksandr Bukharov.
